À la suite de l’incident survenu lors de la conférence de presse au décours du match Metz-Györ ce samedi 21 janvier 2023, Metz Handball tient à préciser les éléments suivants.

Après la fin du match, nous avons été informés par le représentant marketing de l’EHF que la conférence de presse obligatoire d’après-match commencerait à 19h45. Nous avons tout de suite fait la demande au représentant marketing de l’EHF de décaler la conférence de presse à 19h50, compte tenu du gros succès populaire et de l’affluence des 4500 personnes, les joueuses restant sur le terrain pour communier avec le public.

Par ailleurs un contrôle anti-dopage inopiné de l’Agence Française de Lutte contre le Dopage a été réalisé et a retardé le protocole habituel.

Dès la fin du match, la salle de conférence de presse était en place pour commencer avant même 19h45. Les représentants de la presse étaient aussi présents prêts à démarrer. Le représentant marketing de l’EHF a proposé à Györ de faire la conférence de presse en deux temps, afin de ne pas perdre de temps et de commencer par le club de Györ puis d’interviewer Metz Handball à la suite. Ceci est parfaitement autorisé par le règlement de l’EHF. Cette alternative a été refusée par le club de Györ. Emmanuel Mayonnade et Louise Burgaard sont arrivés en salle de conférence à 19h52.

Nous sommes extrêmement surpris et déçus, car nous avons toujours entretenu d’excellentes relations avec Györ comme en témoignent les transferts passés de Béatrice Edwige, Laura Glauser ou plus récemment Bruna De Paula. Il nous est déjà arrivé de patienter plus que prévu au sortir d’une défaite sans pour autant réclamer. Notre club a été récemment reconnu par les autorités Européennes comme intervenant à travers les manifestations sportives extrêmement populaires en tant qu’artisan de l’Europe. Il est extrêmement blessant de se voir reprocher un non-respect de l’adversaire et de ternir l’image de la soirée qui a été réussie en tout point avec un match magnifique et incertain jusqu’à la fin, ainsi qu’une parfaite entente entre les supporters des deux camps dans le respect du fair-play.

Il est vraiment regrettable que le club de Györ tente de discréditer l’organisation de la soirée et donc le club de Metz sans aucune raison valable.

Nous en appelons au fair-play de notre adversaire même si pour notre part : nous considérons que l’affaire est close.

Metz Handball

Following the incident that occurred during the press conference after the match Metz-Györ on Saturday 21 January 2023, Metz Handball would like to clarify the elements.

After the end of the match, we were informed by the EHF marketing representative that the mandatory post-match press conference would start at 19:45. We immediately asked the EHF marketing representative to shift the press conference to 7:50 pm, due to the great success of the game and the 4500 people, the players staying on the field to communicate with the public.

In addition, an unexpected anti-doping control of the French Agency of Fight against Doping was realized and delayed the usual protocol.

As soon as the match ended, the press conference room was in place to start even before 7:45 pm. The press representatives were also present ready to start. The EHF marketing representative proposed to Györ to do the press conference in two stages, so as not to waste time and to start with Györ club and then interview Metz Handball afterwards. This is perfectly allowed by the EHF regulations. This alternative was refused by the club of Györ. Emmanuel Mayonnade and Louise Burgaard arrived in the conference room at 19:52.

We are extremely surprised and disappointed, because we have always had excellent relations with Györ as evidenced by the past transfers of Beatrice Edwige, Laura Glauser or more recently Bruna De Paula. It has already happened that we had to wait longer than expected after a defeat without asking for anything. Our club has been recently recognized by the European authorities as a very popular sports event as a craftsman of Europe. It is extremely hurtful to be accused of not respecting the opponent and to tarnish the image of the evening which was successful in every way with a magnificent and uncertain match until the end, as well as a perfect understanding between the supporters of both sides in the respect of fair play.

It is really regrettable that the club of Györ tries to discredit the organization of the evening and thus the club of Metz without any valid reason.

We appeal to the fair play of our opponent even if for our part: we consider that the case is closed.
